Alittle bit about myself
My name is Aaron James Scott and I’m passionate about helping and improving lives through design. I’m constantly looking to learn and improve my skill set everyday and I like to meet people that have similar views and also different views to myself as it is a great way to share our passions and ideas with the world.
I recently graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with an Honours Degree in Web Design & Development. During my studies I covered various modules which included Practical Interaction Design, Experiential Design, User Experience, Project Management for Information Systems, Digital Business Environments, User-centred Organisational Systems, Mobile Applications Development and Web Technologies. All of these modules helped me into my final year which helped me with my Honours Project.
Since Graduating I have been working on personal projects to better my skills and learn new skills which had me looking at games design and its area of UI Design as I have had past academic experience in games development, while also continuing to improve my ability in coding. My passion for design originates from school as I was more into doodling in my jotters than writing, this continued through the rest of my years in school where I took art & design with computer science as subjects and excelled in it.

I think everyone should have the chance to reach their goals they want achieve. I feel that everyone should learn the way they want too. I have been fortuante to go to University due to living in Scotland but believe that education should be free to anyone that likes to learn. I personally love learning as I just enjoy getting to learn new skills and just curious in other areas that people love.

To me passion is everything and I feel that if anyone wants to follow their passions that they should, we only live once so we’re best making the best out of our lives and doing what we enjoy the most.

Always be Creative
I feel that being creative in your own way is always the best feeling, and while in my spare time I like to design and I also like to draw, it allows me to keep my brain active and always thinking how I can make my designs and drawings better.

Always show Respect
It shouldn't matter what postion people are in or how they express theirselves, respect should always be shown to everyone, theirs already to much hate in this world but showing everyone respect should always be a first as we are all the same. We share the same needs and wants, We're fighting our own battles.

Throughout my university journey, I tackled the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic with resilience, embracing virtual learning while delving into modules like Database Systems, Project Management, and User Experience. Each year brought new insights and skills, from navigating a dual approach of virtual and on-campus learning in my third year to completing a nine-month Honours Project in my final year. These experiences have not only expanded my knowledge but also equipped me with the adaptability and passion to thrive in the professional world ahead.

2016-2020
Attending Dundee & Angus College was transformative. Starting with an Art & Design Certificate, I explored animation, graphic design, and more, laying the groundwork for my creativity. Moving on to a Certificate in software development, games, web design, and networking challenged me, sparking my interest in technology. Progressing to HNC and HND in Web Design and Development refined my skills, leading to a Graded Unit project showcasing my growth. My time there set the stage for my journey into university, fueling my passion for design and technology.

July 2022 - September 2022
During my three months as a team member at Home Bargains, I actively contributed to the store's operational efficiency. My responsibilities included assisting customers, restocking shelves, creating and organising sales displays, recording inventory, handling returns, and efficiently operating cash registers to facilitate seamless transactions. This experience not only honed my multitasking abilities but also provided me with a comprehensive understanding of retail operations. I take pride in my role in maintaining a positive shopping experience for customers while ensuring the store's smooth day-to-day functioning.
Dundee United Community Trust
Social Media & Marketing Assistant
August 2021 - October 2021
During my three months working as a Social Media and Marketing Assistant for Dundee United Community Trust, I successfully contributed to the organisation's online presence. I played a key role in creating engaging videos, managing social media posts, and initiated the development of a website, showcasing my dedication and willingness to go beyond the scope of my assigned responsibilities. It was a valuable experience that allowed me to enhance my skills and make a meaningful impact on the Trust's digital outreach efforts.

Music
My main interest in music would be listening, I love listening to music anytime I get the chance to do so. I also like listening to music while I'm working on any projects as it keeps me focused and also encourages me to get creative with the project I'm working on.

My love of films isn't as big as my love for music but my favourite genres SI-FI, Action, Adventure, Comedy, Animation and Superhero. I do love watching films not surprisingly my favourtie is Starwars & The Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although I have recently started watching more into the horror genre.

Sports
My love of sports has been apart of my life from the first football game I had gone to which was my local team Dundee United. Since then my love of football stayed the same which caused me to follow more teams in Likes of Newcastle United & Barcelona. I have watched all three play. Since then I have gone on to follow more sports in likes of basketball but rest are more nationally than individual teams. I have also participated when I was younger in football & basketball for teams and school.

Gaming
My interest in gaming comes from a very young age playing EA’s Fifa (Now known as EA FC) with my dad. This continued on in my life where I play multiple genres and titles with my most enjoyable game is bungie's shooter looter Destiny as it is probably considered my most played game at this current time.

Design
My Interest in design has been since school. I love drawing, and designing anything whether it's for academic, personal or work. I am passionate about always improving these skills and just have sheer enjoyment doing so as I can forget what's going on around me at the current time and relax with being creative.

Travel
My interest in travelling has been since taking holidays abroad, I have a love for travelling and discovering new things and seeing how different a culture is to my own, and also trying local foods. This is the reason I use the moon, hills and river in my home page of my portfolio website. It's also a hint to myself that as a person I love hills, lakes, night time and rivers.
